The primers gave you the tools to learn to read and Fun With Dick and Jane was the first we read that in a fashion had a story to it. Having read Dick and Jane books in elementary school, I remembered the quality of the lessons and the subtle and gradual adding of more and more vocabulary for First and Second graders. We still pick up Dick and Jane and return to our favorite stories, although she can read every word now with speed and accuracy. The sweet pictures add so much to the stories, and our 4 year old is "reading" the stories from the pictures, and picking up a nice vocabulary.
