Mayor's Office For Adult Literacy On September 17, , Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner officially launched the Mayor’s Office for Adult Literacy (MOAL.) The MOAL will focus on enhancing adult literacy advocacy and awareness and its impact on our economy, communities, families and individuals. The Houston Community College Adult Education & Literacy Program (AEL) provides classes in Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE) Test Preparation and English as a Second Language (ESL) in the greater Houston area.
Houston Literacy Consortium The Houston Literacy Consortium is made up of a number of high profile nonprofit agencies that deliver Adult Education and Literacy services on behalf of Houston Community College (HCC). Each agency must meet the same standards for faculty credentialing, professional development, and program performance as HCC. Students taking classes in the Adult Education and Literacy program (AEL) can get extra practice outside of class by using web-based distance learning (DL) software.
